Report from Gaveston Texas notes an order to muster out all colored troops in the state but the order was later revoked. The piece also cites Galveston four month cotton licenses and tax revenue near 631000 dollars and a Brownsville dispatch about a failed Imperial gunboat capture by ten men led by Lieut Murphy of the 19th colored regiment with Murphy to be dismissed. Money Market Review Drifts With Moderate Demand on Jan 16
The money market shows little variation on January 16 with ample capital for temporary needs. Banks lend freely on call and discount short paper for regular customers, but avoid long terms. Prime collateral loans fetch seven percent, six percent in some cases, while weaker pledges go higher.
