Mayor files two tax bills in legislature
Mayor Peters introduced two measures in the legislature to raise city revenue. One bill would increase interest on delinquent taxes to six percent after two months and eight percent after four months, with a further two percent after that. The second bill seeks a 2 percent increase on taxes on intangible property as a stopgap to secure future income. The Mayor’s revenue committee, led by ex Mayor Matthews, will set the new rate.
