State chemist W L Wedger concludes the Cambridge molasses tank explosion was caused by an internal heating system and gas air mix rather than a tank collapse. A 50 foot wave released 2,300,000 gallons swept Commercial Street to North End Park, killing 11 and injuring 50plus as horses, buildings, and trolley structures suffered heavy damage.
