Despatches from St Louis report the Garrison girl’s abduction tale is not credited. Mrs Levy, who housed the girl, presents a straightforward account.

The earlier application takes precedence over the Hartford and Harlow line, which crosses the New York and Connecticut survey and could be affected by any favorable decision.
Gottlieb Beck died from a pistol wound inflicted last Friday in George Kober's bakery by Mr. Rabanus. A city war tax filing charged Rabanus with manslaughter. Coroner's inquest found Beck's death from a pistol shot and Rabanus guilty of gross carelessness. Rabanus surrendered to police. fears grow he may harm himself. Brother of Rabanus shocked, confined at station after Beck's death.
The Windsor and Annapolis express train to Halifax ran off the track near Mount Uniacke station in Hallifax Nova Scotia. Two passenger cars and the postal and baggage cars were thrown into a snow bank and badly damaged. Two passengers were seriously injured including a lady. others suffered minor bruises.
Bordentown N J January 13 The shoemakers at Griffith W Lewis Barling en factory and Knights of Labor members walked out after orders from the Philadelphia assembly. About 75 workers are idle as the proprietor seeks the cause of the order and the disruption.
In Keokuk Iowa arguments closed in Washburn Moon versus the Grinnell Barbed Wire company. Judges McCrary and Love will consider the case with briefs due in 20 days. The dispute involves two million dollars.

A fierce morning blaze at the Planters Hotel in St Louis began in the kitchen before 5 a.m. killing at least four people and injuring several others. Guests fled in night attire as fire rapidly spread through rear outbuildings, with 18 engines battling the fire for hours. Damages to the hotel around $10,000 and to the adjacent auction firm about $20,000.
