Nantucket waited all day for relief as ice cut access and ships. locals praised the Post for sending the first man ashore and keeping news flowing. A meat auction drew townsfolk, while stores and banks faced shortages and fear of a fully jammed harbor.

Miss Anna Kelly of South Boston was slightly injured while sleigh riding with Horace Cenedello of Milford. A frightened horse caused a mad run, overturning the sleigh and dragging Kelly about 30 feet before Harvard student Cenedella stopped the horse. She was taken to a friend's home for care.
