Harvard Leader Sees Washington Opposing League Idea
Dr A Lawrence Lowell, president of Harvard, told a New York mass meeting that George Washington likely did not favor a world league for nations for the same reason he opposed traffic regulation, since the problem did not exist then. He called Washington a great innovator and noted contemporaries resisted progress too.

Rachmaninoff Recital at Symphony Hall Delights Large Audience
Rachmaninoff gave his second concert of music for the pianoforte yesterday afternoon in Symphony Hall. A large and enthusiastic audience heard two sets of variations by Haydn and Beethoven in a Liszt-like style, with delicate phrasing but exaggerated contrasts. Godowsky's transcription of Caprice by Dandrieu was delicately done. The Gigue by Loeilly moved faster than Godowsky’s version with a marked rhythm. Tausig transcriptions from Scarlatti showcased his mastery of flowing and accented rhythms. The third group comprised Rachmaninoff's own pieces, including Polichinelle and Humoreske played by request, with Melodie praised for its Chopin-like sentiment and Tchaikovsky-like unrest. The Prelude in G sharp minor, also requested, holds a fixed place in his repertory. After Liszt's Second Rhapsodie, several encores were graciously added.
