Worcester January 10 two men were injured as horses pulling Fire Engine 3 ran wild. Mark Daley 50 was trampled and taken to City Hospital with slight hope of recovery. William J Quinn 40 the engine driver was thrown twice and sustained a deep gash in his right side.
The Engine 3 runaway began at 5 15 as the engine driven by Quinn returned from a small fire in Lincoln square. A wheel wedged in electric car tracks causing the horses to bolt and throw the driver. Mark Daley tried to stop them but was struck and gravely injured. Daley taken to hospital. Quinn lightly hurt. Page 7 continues.
Blocking a commutation of the death sentence on Clarence V. T. Richeson may hinge on two women who were said to be his fiancées. Officials plan to have these women testify before the executive council as the law seeks full penalty for the confessed slayer of Avis Linnell.
In Boston a Missouri visitor sat in the courtroom as Richeson was sentenced. She was one of several girls who believed in him and hoped he would marry her, only to face the public outcome alone among strangers.

Four union men from Boston area construction teams for the Boston Opera House and Springfield municipal buildings were served subpoenas by federal officers to testify before the federal grand jury in Indianapolis. The panel investigates the McNamara dynamiting conspiracy affecting projects in Worcester and Fall River.
A Boston watchman employed at the Opera House was placed on a train by federal officers after he refused to go to Indianapolis. All four men were said to belong to the Structural Bridge and Trons Workers' Union. Names withheld as grand jury proceedings are secret. Subpenas issued by U S District Attorney Charles W Miller of Indianapolis and served by U S Marshal Murchie. Further witnesses to be summoned from Boston. Continued on Page 4 Second Column.
Andrew Carnegie testified before the House committee on the U S Steel Corporation, saying it heartens him to have outbid John D Rockefeller in the Lake Superior ore deal. Carnegie bought Rockefeller ore holdings for 15 cents a ton, a stake that later fed assets in the steel behemoth valued at about $700 million. He laughed as he recounted the triumph.
