Thiers Agreement Narrowly Ends Assembly Crisis
Paris January 10 President Thiers and the Thirty’s sub committee have settled articles granting the President limited power to address the Assembly on specified occasions and a restricted veto on legislation. A rupture occurs in the Left Centre as M Christophe is elected president of a meeting of that group, prompting Cassimir Periere and allies to join the Right. Bonapartist Deputies may also align with the Right.
