Harvard President urges seven member at large city council

President Eliot of Harvard told the Massachusetts Mayors Club at the Parker House that the Board of Aldermen and the Common Council should be abolished. He proposed a seven member elective body to replace them, to be elected at large alongside the mayor who would chair what he called a commission.
