Dawn breaks on a possible massive New England labor strike as steamship agents oppose wage increases for longshoremen. The workers favor arbitration beyond the State board and vow to use all legal means to push their claim.

District Attorney Joseph C. Pelletier denied rumors of a government defence agreement to save Clarence T. Richeson from execution. Pelletier said no deal exists and will seek the death sentence for the former Cambridge minister. Governor Foss was reported to consider commuting the sentence to life imprisonment.
