Massachusetts seeks U.S. Supreme Court claim to Ontario Beach land
Massachusetts asks the Supreme Court to bar Rochester from condemning Ontario Beach Park claiming 22 acres of "made land" north of the Genesee River mouth under the 1787 Hartford treaty. The state contends ownership extends to land north of the last 1888 sale, challenging Rochester and other claimants including the city, Phelps and Gordon heirs, New York Central Railroad, and Bartholomew Brewing Co.
