Beginning yesterday January 6 remnants of medium and heavy weight cloths in Custom and Agents departments are marked to close at the uniform price of 4 85. Ten or twelve California miners are killed in a cable snap inside the Utics mine north shaft at Angel's Camp. A ship carrying workers was rising for dinner when the cable parted, dropping 100 feet of rope and men 450 feet to the shaft bottom. John C Dueber leads both firms and controls Hampden while promising no coercion of other stockholders. A Hartford attachment of $50,000 hit the Hampden Springfield factory about a month ago.
