Washington briefed forecast through Tuesday, Maine and New Hampshire see light showers then clearing, brisk westerly winds, colder night and a cold wave. Elsewhere in New England and eastern New York expect light local showers then fair weather with westerly winds and a colder Tuesday night.
A large audience gathered at the Y M C A Hall to hear authors readings in aid of the Working Girls Club at 401 Shawmut Avenue. Presiding Mary A. Livermore introduced each reader. Louise Chandler Moulton presented poems and a story. Mary E. Blake and Miss Lucy Larcom shared multiple poems. Erving Winslow offered a New England sketch. The Credit Jewellers Association met at Boston Tavern to appoint a committee for its annual dinner. The Boston Electric Club held its inauguration dinner at Youngs with President Henry G. Cram presiding and fifty members present, speakers included W J Denver and others. The Class of 88 from Boston Latin School held its annual reunion and dinner at the Tavern with H P B Mosher presiding and officers elected for the year. Notables such as Steele Mackaye, F C Harriot and Clara Morris are at Tremont House while Edwin Baker and Lieutenant Governor W H Haile are listed as staying at local hotels.
M Paul Bloud in the Star course at Tremont Temple last evening delivered a brilliant humorous survey of English Scotch and American traits. His delicate satire and keen wit drew laughter and applause, marking one of the season s best entertainments.

The funeral for ex Mayor Jefferson Bancroft was held at John Street Congregational Church with Rev. E. L. Rose officiating. Masonic ceremonies were performed by Ancient York Lodge F and A M. Pallbearers from Pilgrim Commandery Knights Templar included TP Lancaster, Col. Esa Hagwett, George F. Penniman, W. Norcross, Frederic Iye, and ex-Mayor Charles A. Stott.
