Hofmann Concert Impresses With Delicate Technique At Music Hall
The third Hofmann concert drew an overflowing audience to Music Hall. The program featured Beethoven variations with two pianos, Bach and Scarlatti pieces, Chopin’s polonaise and waltz, and an improvisation on a theme from Mr. Faelten. Critics praised Hofmann's refined technique and musical taste, while noting the heavy program for a young artist and hoping for balanced future demands.

Cemetery marble designs change face of graveyard art
A Boston Cambridge report highlights Norman McDonald & Co. as a leading marble and granite firm near Mt. Auburn cemetery. Modern designs replace grim monuments with airy showrooms, dainty daisies, oak leaves, wheat and acorns, lilies, and other motifs. The firm showcases $5000 worth marble tablets and a design book, with notable commissions for Mr. Curtis Davis and the Rev. Henry Morgan. Mrs. Leslie Hastings orders a six foot Maltese cross statue. The firm also erected a monument in Milton cemetery for the City Cadets of Boston, and operates a large, customer friendly yard with a chauffeured horse and buggy for cemetery tours.
