The Massachusetts Legislature completed its organizational work Yesterday electing Jonathan E Field as Senate President Stephen N Gifford as Clerk Alexander H Bullock as House Speaker William S Robinson as Clerk John Morrissey as Sergeant at Arms The Chaplain election was set for 114 oclock and daily sessions will start at 11 oclock after a sermon at Old South Church by President Stearns of Amherst College

Colonel Guiney to Speak in Portland on War Duties

Colonel Guiney of the 9th Mass Vols will address the Irish American Relief Association in Portland Maine Monday evening. Gen Meagher and Gen Sickles declined due to urgent military duties, while Guiney brings thirteen battles of the Republic as proof of his authority to urge support for the Government and reinforcement of depleted armies.
