Canso Nova Scotia Jan 5 Fortytwo fishermen are believed lost after a blizzard swept the coast. Fourteen are certain dead and twenty eight remain missing with slim chances of escape. Most are married and owned by crews from Dover and White Head.
A fierce storm off White Head harbor traps haddock boats from Canso and Petit de Grat. Eight boats return safely, one Port Felix vessel sinks with seven men lost. Rescue steamers Thirty-three Inverness and Olive recover survivors as crews endure freezing conditions.

Months of investigations by detectives for Daniel Blake Russell have failed to locate W C Russell. A possible sighting at a relative’s home of Executor Ferdinand Almy in Providence was followed by a new lead as the subpena was ready for service if he crossed the state line. An Almy sister barred access at the Russell mansion, while lawyers said they would bring Russell to court if his health allowed.
In Conant Hall Cambridge an 11 year old boy William James Sidis son of Dr Boris Sidis Brookline stood before Harvard professors and presented the mysteries of the fourth dimension with remarkable depth of learning.
Harvard freshman Sidis delivered a lecture under the Harvard Mathematical Club, stunning a hall of mathematicians with mastery of higher dimensions and vector analysis. Professor Coolidge praised the exposition, noting precocity and deep understanding beyond his years.
