Citizens Boy Scouts and police will drag the Charles River and Silver Lake at Newton today seeking the body of ex mayor Thomas F. Kearns believed dead after his disappearance.
Patrick F. McGee of Newton reports a likely scene where the ex mayor walked toward Silver Lake on Thursday afternoon in a cold unbalanced state. Police focus on McGee’s clue that Mr Kearns may have been drowned as Boy Scouts plan to probe the ice with holes for dragging.
South Portland report notes Miss Jennie Webster serves as confidential stenographer to King George and Queen Mary and secretary to the lord chamberlain of Great Britain. Her sister, Miss Josephine Webster, runs a chicken farm on Ocean House road near Cape Elizabeth, known widely in the area.
Miss Josephine Webster, keeper of a poultry farm, shares two preserved letters from her sister detailing intimate happenings in the British royal household. She has kept quiet about most communications, destroying all but two. The Post reporter witnesses the letters and the sister’s unique royal insight.
Boston and Albany railroad announced an embargo adding to the freight restrictions already in place by New York New Haven Hartford. No freight for New England will be received after today except for livestock perishables and coal.
The embargo covers all freight except livestock, perishables, and coal. All freight handled through Jan 5, 1916, will be accepted. Boston & Albany officials say New Haven actions caused congestion and no more freight will be moved until the backlog is cleared, with hope for a quick lift when weather improves.

Moran H Peaslee testified in his murder trial in Concord New Hampshire detailing an alibi. He defended himself against the charge of killing his father and answered flatly that he did not commit the crime. Henry J. Cunningham remains commissioner of public safety in Cambridge. Mayor Wendell D. Rockwood publicly recognizes the office will be vacated this afternoon but Cunningham defies the move and says he will continue to hold the post. Cunningham argues the charter requires council consent for dismissal and vows to attend a 2:30 hearing on charges of inefficiency.
The hearing will have no bearing on the mayor’s aim to remove the commissioner. Commissioner Cunningham is to be removed at the conclusion of the process.
The Wellesley police will take no further action in the case of Joseph Spring a 19 year old Worcester Academy student fatally shot in a garage on Washington street. Police say Spring died from the accidental discharge of a revolver that fell from his pocket as he bent to crank his father's car. Funeral services are set for this afternoon at St Marys Episcopal Church after services at his home on Columbia street.
