Fire claims captain in Highland Baptist Church blaze

Springfield Mass January 3 Captain Sidney Bowers of Engine 4 was killed and fireman Frank I Hines seriously injured when incendiary fire gutted the Highland Baptist Church. The blaze began in an adjoining barn set twice before in two months. Roof collapse trapped Bowers. only his head was recovered. Church valued around 60000 with about 40000 insurance.
