Two patrolmen escaped harm as Forest B. Libby was captured in Wakefield early yesterday after a manhunt that involved riot guns and a call to the fire department. Libby faced charges of assault with intent to kill and carrying concealed weapons.

Doris Belanger 21 of 569 Southbridge street in Holyoke suddenly regained her sight at midnight while Salvation Army watch night services ended in Appleton street. Kneeling before the platform she cried out in the Appleton street army home hall with over 80 attendees.
Peter Richard Pastene junior partner in P Pastene & Company died after a long illness. The Brookline resident, 40, lived at 1688 Beacon Street and was born in Boston. He grew up in the family business and was known to many Boston business leaders. Funeral arrangements were not announced.
Adjutant John H. Bloethe was among those closest when Miss Belanger regained sight. She confirmed five fingers, read a book, and rode the trolley alone to Springfield to tell friend Grace Webster of 6 Douglas street the good news.
Libby a 30 year old farmhand and laborer told police he has information about the case he is not fully ready to disclose. He stated he will cooperate but requires further questioning.
