Champion Swimmer of America Wins Sixty Yards Title

FE C Schaeffer of the New York Athletic Club and University of Pennsylvania won the sixty yard swimming championship of America at the Sportsman’s Show last evening. Samuel Avery of the Boston Athletic Association was second after leading most of the final heat. Final time 87 45 seconds.

New Body Admitted to International Cyclists Association

Despatches from Paris report the International Cyclists Association admitted the National Cycling Association of America to full membership replacing the League of American Wheelmen. Sturmey opposed the move and left in a huff, predicting disruption and future trouble for the IC A.

Wheelmen Seek Baggage Status For Bicycles In Rail Travel

Lawmakers heard from Representatives Reed Frost Frost and others urging that bicycles be carried as baggage by railroads as in Rhode Island and New York. National Cycling Association Circuit Opens in July West

The National Cycling Association announces a July start for its grand racing circuit in the West. G G Greenburg, the Western board member, reports ample date applications for the circuit. The race tour spans several Western states to Milwaukee for the grand championships tied to the LAW national meet.

War Settlement Reaches Ground Use Agreement in Baltimore

Baltimore, Feb 26 The war ring baseball organizations in Baltimore have amicably settled the dispute over Union Park occupancy for 1900. The Circuit Court No 2 injunction is dissolved. Mr Hanlons company paid over 3600 dollars, the sum reportedly paid by Association members for use of the grounds this season.

Coaching shuffle links Yale and Princeton track teams

Coach Robinson, long time minder of the Yale track squad, will switch to Princeton University in a similar role within a few weeks at most. He will oversee preparation and mentoring of athletes during the transition.

The B A A quintet of the Gilt Edge League wins its second straight championship after a 14 week season of 30 wins and 12 losses. Captain Hill posted 245 pins. Fred Wood 596 in three strings. USGA to discuss funding for championship tour events

Russian Prince Buys Basilan Island in Philippine Group

Pittsfield, Feb 26. Prince Ponnapowski of San Francisco reports the purchase of Basilan, an island southeast of Mindanao, by an agent in Manila. The island, about twenty miles long, is bought for its pearl fisheries and hemp trade. Price said to be 609 dollars.

General Carriage Company to boom South Worcester plant

The General Carriage Company of New York with a 200900000 capital gains control of a large South Worcester machinery plant after recent Providence papers.
