Italian Lad Saves Sisters From Flames in North Bennet Street Fire

Fourteen year old Rafel Colorusso rescued his sisters Nettie and Olive from a burning building at 18 North Bennet Street. The fire started in the cellar from a lit gasoline lamp left burning by Rafel’s father, a fruit peddler. A three horse Engine 7 collided with a passing electric car at Hanover and Clark, injuring a shaft horse.

Attachment Taken Against Sawyer Manning Co and Burlington Woollen

The sheriff seized $25,000 in assets from Sawyer Manning Co of New York and Boston and Burlington Woollen Co of Winooski Vt. The funds, obtained by Hastings Greason for Joseph M Harris on a company draft, were tied to stock of goods at 8 Franklin Street. The goods belong to mills for which the firm acted as selling agent and have been released. A rapid reorganization of the entire business is anticipated.

Veteran Organist James S. Sweet Dies in Malden

Malden mourns James S. Sweet longtime organist and civic figure born in 1810 in Boston. He joined the Massachusetts Charitable Association in 1837 and the Handel and Haydn Society for four decades. He served as organist at Dr Blogden's Orthodox Church and played in East Boston's first church. He was in the Boston Light Infantry 1833 to 1837, started a Clinton Street business in 1831, retired in 187? and consistently voted Republican.
