Impressive Funeral Services Over Their Remains in New York

Me Coolly Faces an Arizona Mob and Declares Innocence

Judge Pinney sentenced John Heith to life in prison for Bisbee murders. Twenty four hours later Heith was hanged by a mob in Tombstone as miners seized the jail. The crowd, about 150 strong, carried him to a telegraph pole where a rope was passed over the crossbar and Heith, calm and defiant, asked that no one shoot his body. Heith tied a handkerchief over his eyes and faced death, saying he had faced danger too often to fear it. The execution followed as a quick, brutal mob act with no restraint from authorities.
