East Boston steamer Winifredian reaches port after 11 day voyage
The Leyland line steamship Winifredian with Captain Farrington docked in East Boston after an 11 day 2 hour crossing from Liverpool in rough seas. The Cunarder Astonia followed in, with 48 steerage passengers aboard and plans for a large return cargo. Weather turned severe with northeast gales and heavy seas delaying arrivals and departures along the harbor.
