Annual Banquet and Fourth of July Festivities in Boston
The day opened with meridian salutes from the Common East and South Boston and bells from local churches. The Constitutional Union Club held its fifth annual banquet at the Revere House with about 130 gentlemen, following prayers and a formal toast cycle. Henry W. Paine presided while Charles H. Frothingham read “The Memory of George Washington” and Thomas C. Amory delivered a keynote on the President and Constitution amid strong applause. The event underscored conservative-liberty principles and support for constitutional governance.
