In Boston a large taxi strike halted work at 10 20 p m leaving 125 drivers off duty. Cabs did not move and crowds leaving theatres faced long waits as couples in evening dress looked for rides home or to hotel cafes.
The Boston Chamber of Commerce met at the American House and adjourned after a three hour debate on subway issues, ending with a parliamentary move to adjourn.
The city sparked with surprise as pianist and Mrs. Gardner protégé George W. Proctor announces engagement to Daisy Burt of New York. Burt studied at the Conservatory of Music in Boston where Proctor has taught for four years. Burt, twenty two, and Proctor, nearing forty, become betrothed after her piano studies in Boston.
