George Kennan Lecture on Daghestan Peoples at Tech
Mr George Kennan delivered the final lecture in the Lowell Institute Course at the Institute of Technology on the Daghestan people before a full hall. He described dialects, laws based on the Koran and custom, and Russia’s 1850s siege of a mountain stronghold where 1400 troops used spikes and rope to overwhelm a 300 warrior remnant. He closed with samples of literature, laws, and poetry.
