Hon Daniel Needham Dies After Pneumonia Attack in Groton
Groton honors Daniel Needham a long time public servant and friend of the Society of Friends. Born 1822 in Salem he studied law in Boston and Salem then served as bank examiner from 1871 to 1876. He held many roles including state legislator and railroad director. He died at his Groton home at 2:30 p m after a pneumonia illness that began on the way to Boston last Friday. He married Caroline A Hall and later Ellen M Brigham and had seven children.

He was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where surgeons amputated his right arm at the shoulder. He also suffered a badly fractured right thigh and was left shaken.
