Washington Feb 20 Specion to the Post Speaker Reed displays old tactics by counting absent members as present to sustain a quorum. He names Boamer from Louisiana and Oates of Alabama from the barber shop to pad the roll, then drops Boamer as unneeded. The House adjourned without acting on the district judges bill while the day’s journal was approved at the evening session.

Windom Estate To Leave Family Moderate Support

The Windom family expects a modest income from the late Secretary Windom's estate. Rumors of near-poverty are unfounded as the fortune is moderate and largely tied to real estate. Two life policies exist one for 5000 and another for 2000, with investments likely to grow, despite current income barely covering housing. Under the Civil Service Act Representative Greenhalge introduces a bill to extend civil service protections to employees of the Bureau.
