Gov. Butler and the executive council visited the state prison in Concord to review conditions after the removal of Warden Earle. He spoke to inmates about obedience, newly appointed rules, and their right to write complaints, receiving hearty yet orderly applause from the convicts.

The Methodist church debt of five thousand six hundred dollars at Attleborough has been cleared through efforts led by Rev J A L Rich with a single donor contributing one thousand dollars. North Adams plans a hospital after pledges totaling fifteen thousand dollars and further funds are anticipated. A site will be chosen and construction will begin promptly. The Plymouth Superior Court resumed trials in a Monday session for James F Murray and George W Smith of Hingham for the assault on Mary Ann Clark from that town. Herbert K R Reynolds of Brockton pleaded nolo contendere to procuring an abortion for Ellen M Reynolds and posted two thousand dollars bail for the next term.
Abner Rogers of Arkwright killed on a railroad in East Greenwich on Friday night. Daniel Wilkinson aged 70, Cumberland representative to the general assembly, found dead in his barn from apoplexy this morning. The Navy secretary returns the court of enquiry findings on Paymaster Rand at Newport for technical points. Capt. Selfridge to testify further. By will of George F. Wilson shares in Rumford Chemical works are reserved for heirs. Half of the income from the remaining shares goes to Ellery H. Wilson to reach 100 500 dollars for a Brown University professorship or Wilson hall, and the other half to Halsey J. Boardman to reach 50 000 dollars for a Dartmouth University professorship or Wilson hall. Trustees decide exact use. Executors are Ellery H. Wilson of East Providence and Halsey J. Boardman of Boston.
