Roxbury man arrested for $1900 note theft from aunt

William B. Smith 24 of 1 Dudley Street Roxbury was arrested by Inspector Gaddis on charges of breaking into his aunt Mrs Lettie Smiths home at 138 Westminster Street Roxbury and stealing a promissory note valued at 1900 tied to his late fathers estate. The aunt says he had keys for two years and last visited Feb 15. Smith formerly served on the Enterprise naval training ship and was dismissed for bad conduct.

Man and wife injured in Harrison avenue accident

M C Lee and his wife living at 76 Harrison avenue were treated at Emergency Hospital after an axe incident in which Lee claimed he was driving a nail and his wife fell against the door. He admitted no serious harm beyond a severed finger and a forehead contusion.

Manchester mill advances amid regional disruptions

Progress on the new Manchester mill is moving rapidly. A major log jam at Franklin was cleared with dynamite Friday to prevent damage. Rain damage in Péter caused about 1000 dollars. The Nashua Poultry and Pet Stock Association sets its annual exhibit in Nashua for December 11 12 13 and 14. Recent snowslides in the White Mountain notch blocked railway tracks for several feet. A deer captured at Canaan by a son of Lary was found frozen. Walpole Public Library circulated 669 volumes in January. Meredith reports measles. Mascoma Lake ice stands two feet thick at East Lebanon.

New Pastor Takes Post At St Marys Brookline

Parishioners of St Marys Church of the Assumption in Brookline welcomed Rev Father Michael T McManus as their new pastor. Appointed by Archbishop Williams to fill the vacancy after Rev Lawrence J Morris's death, McManus began his duties following a severe weather day. He was born in Ireland in 1817 and came to the United States eleven years later. He studied at Allegheny College, Troy Seminary, and was ordained in 1870. His career included St Patricks Lowell, St Bernards West Newton, and St Patricks Lawrence prior to Brookline posting.

Kilroy Treated After Altercation at Dover Street Bar

Mike Kilroy of 125 Eliot Street got into a dispute in a Dover street establishment yesterday morning. The proprietor warned him to leave, and an argument led to a blow with a billy club. Kilroy was rushed to the emergency hospital for treatment.
