Two Men Found Frozen Near Gardner's Camp in Michigan
In East Tawas Michigan on February 17 a party found John Johnson nearly immobile with both legs and hands frozen after two nights exposed to minus 26 degrees. He died shortly after being brought to town. His companion lay a mile away, also dead, partially buried in snow. They had been wandering two nights in extreme cold.
