Shipbuilder Burnham Praised At San Francisco Dinner

Gilman M. Burnham, ship-builder formerly of East Boston, is reported by the Ledger to be earning $100 a day in San Francisco and has been honored with a public dinner amid a noted personal difficulty between Mr Clayton and Mr Meredith.

Missing North Star Feared Lost After November Voyage

Fears mount for the ship North Star from Liverpool to Philadelphia after it vanished following a November 16 departure. Reports indicate other ships changing hands and sales in San Francisco, including Brig Solon bought for whaling and ships James Monroe Thames and Oxford sold for substantial sums with loading plans for California.

Condor Light Hulk Guides Vessels From Ortiz Bank

Buenos Ayres December 8. The National barque Condor lies between Point India and the Ortiz Bank to serve as a light hulk. A large lamp is displayed nightly from her topmast to guide vessels entering or leaving the port. Pilots will be aboard to convey ships bound further inland.
