Charles Christy of Waverly recounts a Cuban Massacre near Havana where 400 patriots were captured and abused. The American consul secured a trial for sixteen, who were later released to leave the island, while five companies executed the remaining prisoners. Bodies were left on the ground.
About 2500 pant makers in 200 shops of New York Brooklyn and Williamsburg stop work as contractors refuse to raise pay or cut hours. The strike aims to renew the old wage scale reduced 35 to 50 percent and secure new employer signatures, potentially displacing around 3000 women and girls workers.
