At Tufts College the sophomore class blocked a planned February 16 banquet for the freshmen at Thorndike, arresting six or more and prompting Medford police to intervene. The episode left the freshmen puzzled, the sophomores triumphant, and college life briefly in an uproar as authorities restored order.
Captain Spinney of schooner Landseer reports crew member Frank Seguin stole 800 dollars to buy cargo. After four days of pursuit through mountains, Seguin sought refuge aboard a vessel to St Johns. Returned to Landseer, confessed and surrendered 600 dollars, jailed briefly but freed to return home without pay.

Headmaster Q E Dickerman, unable to attend, was to be guest of honor. a resolution to that effect was voted.
Measles have broken out in the Tewksbury almshouse with more than twenty five women ill. A ward was set apart for the afflicted as the weather worsened the spread. Dr Gile reports the disease under control and care ongoing.
Washington report details a Friday weather forecast for New England. Maine New Hampshire Vermont fair and colder with possible snow Friday night or Saturday. Massachusetts Rhode Island Connecticut fair then snow Friday night or Saturday with a cold northeasterly wind. Eastern New York much colder with possible snow Friday afternoon.
A plot to burglarize Frank Williams of 3 Howe Street in South Boston succeeded in placing a bogus telegram from Massachusetts General Hospital. Mrs Williams, fearing a family emergency, left a rear door unfastened and found the home ransacked with valuablesMissing after she learned the telegram was false.
George Cherry, former sailing master of the Win some and crewman on the Altna, Puritan, Mayflower, and Volunteer, was feted by Masons, Odd Fellows, and Knights of Pythias who presented him a life size oil portrait in full Patriarch Militant uniform. Charles A. Jacks gave the presentation speech. A collation followed at the Commercial Cafe on Essex Street.
Dr Alfred Booth claiming to be dean and president of the Excelsior Medical College of Massachusetts was arrested in New York on a charge of issuing fake medical diplomas. The college allegedly operated from a dingy lodging room and offered diplomas for 50 dollars and a PhD for 25 more. Booth, about 70, pleaded not guilty and was held for examination.
New York reports the oldest survivor of the War of 1812, General Abraham Dally, was found dead last Sunday at his Williamsburg Long Island home. He was 98, very poor, and lived alone. His body will be interred at Cypress Hill Cemetery next Sunday with military honors.
