Judge Thomas H. Dowd of the Central Police Court urged allowing youths to fight their own battles. The ruling followed an incident when a puppy from 159 Huntington Avenue wandered onto a grass plot, igniting the dispute that led to his comment.
In a court scene Judge Dowd admonished parents to let children resolve their own battles. Henry J Williams was found guilty of assaulting Dr Theodore F D Moucell's 11 year old son with a broom. Moucell was found guilty of assaulting Williams in the mutual battery case.
Cable reports to Dr. Estes Ferrara and Dr. Raimundo Cabrera say insurrectionists hold virtually the entire Santiago de Cuba province. Messages from Luis Mola and R. Fernandez are cited as signed by military governor and district commander.
U S rail leaders announce an urgent embargo to ease freight car shortages and port congestion. Two weekly 50 car flour trains run Minneapolis to New England, one daily 50 car feedstuffs train to New England, and empties redirected to Western cities in solid trains except passenger traffic. Three Americans lay dead about 50 feet apart after a raid, each shot in the head and one victim's head mutilated with a machete. All were stripped of clothing. The Mormon scout Spillsbury said the victims were taken into Mexico from the United States before being killed. E. D. Spencer arrived at the border with Salazar’s demand for 5000 in gold and relayed an oral statement claiming Salazar planned a border town raid surpassing Villa’s Columbus incident to spare women and children.
Edward The rek, a self confessed embezzler who admitted stealing $20,000 from the National Shawmut Bank, testified in U S District Court that he took responsibility for his wife’s role while he refused to reveal the source of $12,000 yearly spent during their two year marriage. He admitted the Shawmut embezzlement but declined to answer about Monongahela National Bank, Corn Exchange Bank, Tenth National Bank, A B Leach & Co., Axell & Jask, or other firms, claiming further testimony would incriminate him.

Norman F. Reed a 14 year old boy was killed last night in a coasting accident at the Arnold Arboretum near South street on the Bussey bridge. The sled skidded and struck a tree sending him unconscious to his home at 3880 Washington street surrounded by first responders.
James McCann a 10 year old laborer from Malden was crushed by a falling mass of frozen earth in a city pit on Emerald Street. Physicians at Malden Hospital report him in critical condition last night.
In the Senate drastic amendments to the postal appropriation bill were agreed to. They would criminalize liquor importation into states prohibiting manufacture and sale for beverage use and bar liquor advertisements from the mails in states opposing such advertising.
On the Truse side the national prohibition constitutional amendment was favorably reported from the judiciary committee with Chairman Webb predicting passage within a week. Prohibition champions welcomed the news though realizing House action would end the amendment’s chances in this session. No Senate action is expected before March 4 when the 64th Congress ends.
