Public statement clarifies that present policy-holders need not fear for their insurance and should continue paying premiums as per contract. The company asserts no jeopardy to coverage and urges policyholders not to withdraw payments.
The time to deposit bonds and stock and accept rights has been extended to Saturday. A penalty of 2 percent on bonds and 1 percent on stock will be imposed if the acceptance is not completed by the new date. Copies of the reorganization agreement are available at the Central Trust Company in New York. Committee members include G. S. Ellis, secretary, and others listed.
New York City steamer City of New York sank a canal boat after a fog near the Battery. Canal boat captain Patrick Daly of Perth Amboy, N J, drowned. his wife was not aboard. The city captain faces arrest on return.
A series of port arrivals lists steamers docking on February 13 and 14. Vessels include Bostonian from Liverpool arriving in Boston, Yorkshire from Liverpool at Baltimore, Britannic from Liverpool at New York, and others arriving at Bremen, Southampton, Glasgow, Liverpool, Copenhagen, and London with origin cities noted.

William Henry Smith said ministers only just received the report from the special commission and had not yet decided on a course. Parnell argued coercion actions target freedom of the press and speech, while noting historic boycotting and the evolving Nationalist stance.
The Rockland report details four drowning deaths at Green's Landing Deer Island in Maine. Ezra Kenney and wife of Moose Island perished in a dory near 7 p.m. They attempted to anchor, Kenney found dead, wife clinging to a cliff with injuries. Two Green's Landing youths also drowned in last week’s storm. In Rochester East Lebanon Maine, investigators recovered Hiram Sawtell murdered and dismembered, with head missing. Isaac Sawtell arraigned on murder charge, inquest planned.
In Constantinople on February 14, reports say the grand vizier opposes the Roberts College American Institute, fearing liberal reform among Turkish youths. The vizier accuses American teachers of teaching republican ideas. the Sultan blocks arrests of the teachers.
Lt Governor Campbell leads a party from Ohio John H Inman and Boston and New York guests toured Atlanta today visiting city sights. They attended a public reception at the Chamber of Commerce Hall and luncheon at the Piedmont Club. A Capital City Club reception followed. Some visitors depart for Birmingham and Montgomery with most heading to New Orleans.
A Monon line north of Mitchell collision killed engineer W J Dillard and fireman J B Godinger, fatally injured mail agent Charles Wright, with six others hurt. Fault cited as wrong orders from a despatcher. Similar incidents reported in Ontario and Ohio with multiple injuries and deaths.

Teswich February 14 Albert Brown's horse, unseen for days in the stable, went mad on Wednesday. It collided with two cows in a savage rush toward town and leapt into a pond where it drowned. No rabid-dog bites are confirmed despite several rabid dogs in town recently.

Dover New Hampshire February 14 Isaac Sawtell was brought to Dover at four o clock afternoon in charge of Chief Wilkinson and Officer Allen of Rochester and committed to jail.
