Charlestown Wins Mystic Valley League Title

Charlestown defeated Calumet two straight games on neutral alleys to clinch the Mystic Valley league championship after a tied season. In the opening string Charlestown led with 933 to Calumet 900, then Calumet slipped to 786 while Charlestown totaled 819. Burnham led Calumet with a 214 single and 404 total.

Maugus secured the Newton bowling league championship by taking two of three games from Newton Boats on Newton alleys. Low scores prevailed with Hersey posting the high game of 196 and a strong total.

Prize fighting charges hit Bay State Boxing Promoter

Joe Mullins president of the Bay State Athletic Club was arrested by Captain Wescott and Sergeant Gunn on a warrant for promoting prize fights without proper authority. He was found at the Criterion Club rooms where a boxing exhibition was to be held and was bailed by friends. Mullins longtime prominent promoter in the city.
