Military Fair at Music Hall Draws Crowd Despite Rain
The fourth day of the Military Fair at Music Hall attracted a large attendance despite bad weather. The Third Cavalry gifted Colonel Maccabe a fine sofa pillow as a rest after his duties as chief marshal. Little Muss Sadie Cowan of Claremont Park presented it prettily. Harvard men attended and each booth drew crowds. The altar-cloth contest at the Daughters of Veterans drew interest. Miss Laura Hughes, matron of the model Red Cross Emergency Hospital, broke her arm on slippery pavement. her sister stood in. Linghes, who aided Dr. Marion at the 1890 Murdock Emergency Hospital, is remembered for her past service. Howard's Ladies' Military Band provided music for the afternoon and evening.
