Contested will of Elizabeth Simpson disallowed in Lowell
Judge Holmes in the Supreme Court affirmed the Probate Court ruling disallowing Elizabeth Simpson's 1893 will. The decision chides Verrazano Simpson for acquiring most of the estate with unsecured notes and for a dubious arrangement promising monthly payments to his mother. The court found the draft improbable as her directions and noted secrecy surrounding the signing at East Cambridge. The probate decree stands.
