Steadfast Burglars Plague Roxbury Neighborhood

A Roxbury district near the Church of the Blessed Sacrament suffers ongoing break ins with more than 15 stores and homes hit in recent months. Police from Stations 10 and 13 have not captured the culprits who reportedly use a car to haul away loot. a suspect was seen stopping at Wagner's dry goods store during a robbery.

Multiple Nighttime Robberies Hit Local Stores and Homes

A string of burglaries targets dry goods stores and residences in the vicinity. Wagner's dry goods, Baker's, and Marrow's stores lose cash and men's wear, with break-ins via doors and windows. The year 1915 began badly with costly losses totaling 6.5 million dollars versus 3.5 million last year. Halls on time charters require higher premiums due to labor and material costs. War risks portion of insurance profits remains satisfactory for underwriters.

Hope for settlement of the 15 000 coal miners strike in eastern Ohio faded as negotiations with operators in the presence of government conciliators collapsed. Participants admitted there was no current chance of a settlement after talks began January 28 and have crippled eastern Ohio coal production since last April.
