Banks Will Contest Proved in New York Probate

In New York on February 6 Surrogate Thomas ruled after hearing witnesses that Miles Banks was married and had a son Ernest who married and had a daughter Maud Ernestine Banks. Ernest Banks is deceased and Maud Ernestine Banks is the lawful heir and next of kin. the will is admitted to probate. The contestant indicated plans to appeal.

Broadway Bank Dividend Declared in National Bank Settlement

Depositors of Broadway National Bank will receive full deposits with interest up to yesterday. Payments will be made by checks drawn on the sub-treasury at Boston. Only proved claims presented to Receiver Wing will receive checks. many have not appeared to prove claims. Proved claims total $2,231,382 and will be settled today.

Injunction Hinders National Bank Over Collateral Stocks

Judge Braley granted an injunction restraining the National Bank of the Republic from disposing of stocks and bonds held as collateral for a loan to the defunct Dillaway & Starr firm. The suit by A. Bordman Defence in Iloilo Court Martial Review

The Boston Globe correspondent reports Captain Bordman of the Twenty-sixth Infantry faced trial by court martial over permitting a native thief and bandit Gargenero to be executed by civil authorities. Bordman cited misreading orders from Brigadier-General Hughes, saying he believed the civil execution was justified and within court jurisdiction. He testified he carried out his duty with a surgeon and six soldiers to prevent disturbance, but Gargenero was killed after a bolo struck him in the back and he was shot.
