Cardinal O'Connell is due in Rome today as the conclave debates papal election deadlock. The assembly will not seek to resolve the impasse until his presence is established, with a possible postponement of the pope election until Tuesday.
A large crowd gathers at Mechanics Building to witness James M. Curley take the oath as Boston mayor at 11 this morning. Incoming mayor’s secretary Standish Wilcox issued 13,000 invitations for the ceremony.
The building doors will be opened to the public at nine to allow seating before the mayor and city officials arrive. The induction ceremony will be brief and the mayor will deliver the main address as the feature of the exercises.
In New York a new automobile slid off an Edgecombe avenue cliff and wrecked 70 feet down. Edward Jackson, who had bought the car yesterday for 600 dollars, crawled free as a bystander bid 15 dollars. The elder Jackson caused the crash while learning to drive and stepping on the accelerator instead of the brake. he was arrested for driving without a license.
A motion picture actor and cameraman held briefly by Los Angeles deputies were released after being questioned about the William Desmond Taylor murder. Police, continuing to press the case, disclosed little about the men or evidence. The hunt for a drug peddler and a missing silken night dress from Taylor’s apartment dominated tonight’s developments.
The Washington arms conference ends tomorrow with a plenary signing of treaties and a farewell address by President Harding. It marks his first appearance since welcoming delegates on November 12 and he will express gratitude for the results and support for international cooperation.

William Lee of 1807 Christian Street wagered $25 that he could out eat six men. In a 45 minute feast at a restaurant he demolished a 12 pound turkey 53 oysters two pounds of pork chops twelve eyes two slices of ham beef stew and twelve cups of coffee before relief and winnings were settled. a physician was needed for Lee afterwards.

Burglars broke in during the night at the Oakville Drug Company store in Oakville Conn and took cash and supplies valued at 400 dollars. The plate glass window was removed and the glass leaning against the door was found undamaged this morning.
