Hatters Union Trebled Verdict After Seven Year Case

In Hartford, D. E. Loewe & Co. won a verdict against 250 Hatters Union defendants. Though labeled $74,000, the Sherman act trebles the damage to $222,000. Costs total about $12,000, to be added to the judgment. Some defendants are dead due to the lengthy seven year lawsuit.

New York February 4 reports Captain Moore and 46 aboard the Mallory liner Alamo are safe after their vessel Kentucky sank off Cape Hatteras. The Kentucky, 996 gross tons and 203 feet, was en route from New York to the Pacific to transport passengers between Tacoma and Alaskan ports for the Alaska Pacific Steamship Company.

Kentucky Sinking Prompted Rescue By Alamo Near Cape Hatteras

First report came from United Wireless at Cape Hatteras at 11:30 AM as the steamship Kentucky signaled SOS and reported 32.10 N 76.30 W. The Alamo rushed to aid, later rescuing 46 crewmen before the Kentucky sank, with water reaching the fire room and the vessel expected to go down before midnight.

Dover Snowstorm Dumps Eighteen Inches In Town

A New England storm buried Dover New Hampshire under 18 inches of snow as 16 inches fell in Portland Maine. The system disrupted shipping, stalled trains and cars, and caused wire outages while coastal vessels reported distress signals. Strong winds and heavy snowfall blanketed New Hampshire Maine and Vermont.
