An old Boston ad promotes Smith's Buchu Lithia Kidney Pills claiming rapid cures for sick kidneys bladder rheumatism and blood with a cheap 100 pills for 25 cents offer and a free mail book. It also touts Smith's Pineapple and Butternut Pills as a gentle stomach liver and bowels remedy with 100 pills in a vial for 25 cents.
Judge Tillinghast of the Rhode Island Supreme Court rules libel may be an injury to the person in the case John H. McDonald versus D. Russell Brown. The ruling upholds that a bad name harms personal security and warrants remedies, remanding for further proceedings after Wardner’s bankruptcy bond case.

William H. Byrnes, a Murray Hill Hotel carriage agent, testified at an inquest into the Park Avenue tunnel explosion. Five girls from Walton & Logan shoe factory in Lynn left work after demanding higher wages. They worked in the dressing room preparing shoes for shipment and sought a raise beyond 7 12 cents per case. Not union members, they organized informally and presented the request to the firm head, who refused.
