James Taylor of 161 Pleasant Street Dorchester and a man named Kehoe fought in the La Masse saloon at 1157 Dorchester Avenue. They moved to the street where John A. Ross stepped in and stabbed Taylor with a knife near the heart. Doctors say Taylor will recover. Ross was arrested.

William Fuller, his wife, and three friends crashed into a stone wall on the Prescott farm in Methuen around 8 pm. Mrs. Fuller suffers compound fractures of the knee and hip and is not expected to live. Mr. Fuller is in critical condition.

Frank Davis of Somerset faced District Court for assaulting James Kennedy an Irish19 year old farm hand who worked for Davis at Swansea farm. Kennedy said Davis forced him into a wagon tied his hands and returned him home then forced him to strip and wear an ill fitting old suit before sending him away. Trial continued to Thursday.

Jones moves to Fort Snelling related duty. The retiring board at San Antonio detaches Lt Col Edward Valuma and Major Francis L Town. Second Lt Charles G Lyman gets extension to April 1. Captain Frederick E Trotter granted three months sick leave. Captain Thompson examined by retiring board at San Antonio.
Faux River Feb. 4 The Robeson Mills annual meeting elected C. M. Hathaway as clerk and treasurer and named directors William R. Robeson Lloyd 8 Katie Nathaniel B. Horton R. St. Davis E. E. Hathaway Charles B. Luther Clarence K. Hathaway. Treasurers report shows about 38000 in net earnings and a 25000 surplus. a 2 percent dividend is declared.
Six mining captains entered the Calumet mine in Michigan and found the fire extended 1500 feet downward, totaling 2100 feet of burned district. Managers had hoped the fire would burn out. Forcing carbonic gas down proved ineffective at recovering the remains of the dead miners.
In Ottawa on February 4 the Senate debated a motion by Senator Drummond to address the Governor-General in reply to the throne speech. Senator Scott attacked government policy on fishing and trade with the United States, criticizing the 1818 treaty, while Senator Abbott defended the government and praised Canada’s rights. The address was adopted after three hours of discussion.
Smoke filled Matthews Hall at Harvard University after a coal closet fire in room 33. A bucket brigade formed as the first engine arrived and the fire was quickly put out. Minor damage with the room door burned through. Causes suspected to be a cigarette.
Mr. Carmel Pennsylvania February 4 The individual operators have joined with large companies to curtail coal output in the region leaving only one mine in operation. Five suspended collieries once employed nearly 3000 hands and produced over 800000 tons annually as operators unite to maintain control.
Fant River February 4. C H Wheeler who ran two bucket shops fled town early this morning leaving about a score of customers bankrupt. Wheeler, a Taunton import, ran the two offices after taking over Doran Wright and later A P Fisher business. He planned to close trades covertly and pocket margins, leaving his uncle among the heaviest losers.
New Haven reports Jay W. Coudrey of Middletown, a mind reader and faith care scientist, spoke flippantly about death during a West Haven lecture. He suffered a sudden apoplexy during the talk and died the following night, causing a sensation in the quiet area.
Boston star fielder Joe Hornung yesterday accepted the offer from the Baltimore Baseball Club and was sent a contract to play there in the coming season.
