Boston man carries dead brakeman to Vermont in record cold
P. J. Moran, master of a Boston railroad lodge, left for Vermont with the body of J. H. Waters after Waters was killed on the Fitchburg line at Deerfield. Moran described 32 to 36 degrees below zero, three foot snow on level ground and drifts six to ten feet deep encountered on the journey. Killed on the Rail at Bennington Street Crossing
A passenger train on the East Boston branch of the Boston and Maine railroad struck and instantly killed an unknown man at the Bennington street crossing after leaving Bremen street station for Revere at 6 27 last evening. The body was thrown about fifty feet and mangled. The victim stood about five feet eight inches, weighed around 150 pounds, with sandy hair and a mustache, wearing a black stiff hat dark clothes a black overcoat and a checked cotton shirt. Undertaker Brown took the body to the North Grove street morgue.
