STATE AID PAY CLAIMS FOR MA MASS REGIMENTS DODGED
A communication from the state aid commissioners presents majority and minority findings on compensation claims for services prior to muster in 1861 by the Eleventh and Twelfth Massachusetts Infantry. The majority says no pay is due. muster pay rules and absent muster rolls complicate computation. The minority argues soldiers at Fort Warren were in state service before US muster in and thus owed pay. Also outlines related legislative orders and adjournments, with numerous town and public notices following.
