The Massachusetts House took swift command of the Lawrence strike crisis with a 114 to 81 vote, creating a five member House committee with power to investigate. The plan excludes the Senate and was narrowly altered to state a House committee rather than a joint panel.
A high mass of thanksgiving for Cardinal O Connell will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston.
