South Boston police report four teenage boys aged 12 to 15 arrested on charges of passing a counterfeit bill. A $5/$1 bill, split and pasted, fooled local dealer James Cass who identified John Conley as the passer. Investigators cite an expert counterfeiter behind the scheme and note many similar bills have appeared. one suspect remained in custody, another bailed, with officials withholding names.
Springfield Jan 31 Daniel Manahy a famed baseball catcher died by his own hand at his home at 11 o clock tonight drinking carbolic acid He had threatened suicide if his situation did not improve He played for several teams in the 1890s including the Washingtons and the Cincinnatis.
In Woonsocket Rhode Island on January 31 Fred Boucher aged 18 fired a shot at his companion Eugene R Blanchet aged 16 while demonstrating how to bring down a duck. Blanchet was seriously wounded. Boucher was arrested and held on $3000 bond. Families of both boys believe the shooting was accidental.
Daniel Scott of 10 Tatts Court Charles Town hugged a stove yesterday morning causing his clothes to ignite. He burned his arms neck and face and was moved first to the Relief station then to City Hospital for treatment.
Meunier, who traveled from Manchester New Hampshire to police headquarters, admits stabbing Mrs. James T. Seville to death. He says he loved her and killed over a belief she and her husband plotted to cheat him out of money. He bought arsenic laced sherry, drank part, and showed no remorse.
Joseph Meunier, 33, of Manchester New Hampshire, surrendered in Detroit admitting he killed Mrs. James T Seville. He had left Manchester in 1903 after a four week marriage to Ezra Campbell of Bedford. He worked at a bobbin shop and in a railroad roundhouse before his return to New Hampshire.
