Brockton finishes set after weeks of delay in shoe prices
Special to the Post reports a Brockton arbitration that ends weeks of dispute over finishing prices for second and third grade shoes. The agreement fixes 80 cents per case for third grade and 95 cents for second grade, with listed included items and extra work paid by agreement. Prices take effect Feb. 8, 1886, through Jan. 1, 1887.

Bakers Hold Meeting in Codman Hall Oversees Labor Power
About one hundred bakers gathered in Codman Hall and elected Nicholas Kennedy as president with W G Gennar as secretary. Carl Freider denounced the press as mercenary and David Taylor urged labor organization to counter capital. In Providence on January 31 the Weavers Protective Association met in Olneyville and voted to keep the strike after a report from the Lymapayile mill committee. Strikers report four months of funds. The Atlantic mill shop committee failed for a 10 percent rise. the issue moves to the State Knights of Labor executive committee. If not granted, trouble may loom next Thursday.

Schooner Florence M. Tower of Camden Maine and Spartan of Port Midway collided during a heavy squall off Chatham at 11 on Saturday night. The Tower sustained heavy damage and requested a tug to tow to Boston, while the Spartan was cut near the midship and for temporary repairs before resuming. Both boats anchored off Chatham all day for repairs.
